Nakhchivan Experience Highlighted at the International Labour Organization’s 100th Anniversary Event.

From June 10-21, the International Labour Organization (ILO) celebrated its 100th anniversary in Geneva, Switzerland, during the 108th International Labour Conference session. Vugar Abbasov, President of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Confederation of Entrepreneurs, participated in the conference as part of the Azerbaijani delegation.

Discussions at the conference focused on creating decent working conditions globally, social protection for individuals, and the implementation of active employment programs. Azerbaijan’s achievements, including those of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, were met with significant interest. The country’s proactive engagement in social partnership, innovative economic development, increased labor productivity, and improved social welfare were positively highlighted.

It was noted that the discussed issues align with the strategic objectives of the state policy successfully pursued under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. Over the past 15 years, Azerbaijan has seen substantial growth in GDP, industrial production, and average monthly wages, while unemployment and poverty levels have decreased to minimal levels. This year alone, the average increase in salaries and pensions by 40% and social benefits and allowances by 100% has significantly supported the well-being of its people.

Additionally, Azerbaijan’s four social projects, which hosted the European Social Security Forum of the International Social Security Association in May, were awarded special recognition as exemplary practices by the organization.

During the jubilee event, the successes of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in sustainable employment, decent working conditions, and social protection were extensively showcased. The importance of experience sharing and broad collaboration in achieving social justice and dialogue was emphasized, highlighting the relevance of these practices in fostering continued progress.
